To Order of Chaos, World of Warcraft is not only about progressing and seeing new content, it is also about having fun. We like to keep things fun and laid back. We don’t use a DKP system or have any stringent performance rules. Within the general Guild populace we expect all our members to be kind and respectful, not only of fellow Guildies, but of others in the game.
1 General Requirements
Order of Chaos is looking for active players looking to enjoy the game. By accepting the invite to be added to the guild, you agree to be bound by the rules setforth and any consequences associated with not abiding by them.
1.1 Guild Bank Access
The guild bank is membership based per toon, not per WoW account. The purpose of this is to get all members to participate in helping the guild grow and weed out the people that join guild just to mooch off of them. For this reason as well as security from account hackers, all tabs have a withdrawal limitation. The guild tab access is as follows:
- Copper Tab 1 ~ Once you pass your initiation, all members will have more access to this tab. While the items are not necessarily of great quality, it will help any person leveling their character through level 24.
- Bronze Tab 2 ~ Once you hit level 25, you qualify for access to this bank tab. This tab is geared towards the 25-49 levels.
- Silver Tab 3 ~ Once you have reached level 50, you qualify for access to this bank tab. This allows you access to this tab as well as the Bronze tab. This tab is geared towards the 50-80 levels.
- Gold Tab 4 ~ This tab is for NCO ranking members only.
- Cobalt Tab 5 ~ This tab is our raiding tab.
- Titanium Tab 6 ~ This tab is for officers only.
Any misuse of the guild tabs will be subject to rule 1.2.9 and could warrant removal from the guild on the first offense.
No access is granted to the guild funds. If you need to "borrow" money for any reason, you must send an e-mail to an officer requesting the loan and the reason for it. If granted, you will have 30 days to reimburse the guild for the loan. Defaulting on the loan will warrant the removal of all access to guild tabs until paid. Please allow up to 7 days to receive funds once the request is made.
1.2 Code of Conduct
Your acceptance into the Order of Chaos constitutes agreement between you and Order of Chaos that you will conduct yourself in a friendly manner at all times. While the guild is not into censoring you and your ability to speak freely, we do expect you to respect all members of the guild and understand that this guild is a family oriented guild. Anything found to be offensive, can be found in the following sections 1.2.x.
1.2.1 Profanity
Profanity in guild/raid/party/vent chat will not be tolerated and is cause for the disciplinary action outlined below. The definition of profanity is any word or words that Blizzard deems as profanity. This is evident by the masking of your word or words in chat with the language filter activated. Any reference to profanity is unacceptable and will be deemed as profanity as seen fit. For instance, any use of abbreviating or using an anagram that references profanity is constituted as using the word itself. Also, since this is a family centered guild, please refrain from all sexually explicit chat.
1.2.2 Spamming
Spamming is not allowed in public communications channels of World of Warcraft. Likewise, it is not allowed in Guild Chat either. The definition of spamming is the act of repeatedly typing the same thing over and over again as to hinder the ability of allowing others to communicate. Spamming is usually performed by copying and pasting the information and sending it or setting up a macro; however, any form of spamming as defined above, no matter the delivery method, is unacceptable.
1.2.9 Consequences
Any of the above rules in sections 1.2.x, will carry the following punishment:
- 1st Offense ~ Warning
- 2nd Offense ~ Demotion to Violator rank* with no access to guild chat or guild tabs (timeframe determined by officer performing demotion)
- 3rd Offense ~ Removal from Guild
If you are removed from the guild, any membership fees and/or guild donations paid during your tenure will not be refunded and you will not be allowed to return.
Note*: If at any time during your rank of Violator that you do not observe ANY of the guild rules, you will be removed from the guild with no questions asked.
1.3 Instance Equipment
Please be sure your gear is appropriate for the Instance/quest that you have signed up for. Check it at www.wow-heroes.com.
1.4 Voice Communications
When appropriate, we use Vent for voice communications. We use Vent for all raiding activities and you must have Vent to participate in our raids. Please be sure to test your mic prior to joining a Group.
1.5 Add-ons
There are lots of helpful add-ons out there and what you use is at your own discretion.
1.5.1 Automatic Guild Chat messages
Add-ons that use automatic text in guild chat for the purpose of congratulating, saying "hi", or the like are not permitted for use. Anyone found using these types of add-ons will be asked to turn them off and will be deemed as your warning of this rule. Any further consequence will follow the guidelines in rule 1.2.9.
1.6 Be Prepared
When you sign up for a Guild function, come prepared! There is nothing more frustrating when someone shows up unprepared, it can delay start times. Get the things you need before you accept a summons!
Here is a checklist:
Potions: Do you have all the potions you need? Any mana or health potions…
Elixirs: Do you have the elixirs you need for the fight? Distilled Wisdom, etc…
Others: Do you have any special things you need? Wizard Oil, Mana Oil, etc…
Reagents: Do you have the reagents you need for buffs? For Greater Blessings, etc…
Repairs: Are you fully repaired and ready to go? If you show up broken you could delay the entire raid.
Food: Do you have the proper buff food with you? Fish Sticks, Spicy Crawdads, etc…
Vent: Do you have the Vent set up and ready to go? Is your Mic broadcasting?
PVP Flag: Are you un-flagged for PVP?
2 The Calendar
2.1 Sign-up or Don’t Go!
This is a very simple concept; if you do not sign-up then you aren’t going. Once you are registered on the site it is very easy to sign-up. If you are having problems, contact Elielamun or Mipendo and we will be able to add you manually.
2.2 Cancellations
We know that real life takes priority so if you are signed and can’t make it, cancel your sign-up directly through the calendar!
2.3 “No Shows”
If you signed-up for a Guild function then you are expected to be there by the posted start time. Yes, this is a game but when you sign-up, real people are depending on you to be there. We expect you to cancel your sign-up if at all possible! We know there are special cases, such as on-call jobs and we are totally flexible with that as long as you let Leadership know that is the case. We also know that there are emergencies that come up too and we can work around them.
Strike 1 – Warning: On your first strike of being a “No Show” you will be warned by Leadership and asked to familiarize yourself with these rules once again.
Strike 2 – Bottom of the Queue: On your second strike of being a “No Show” you will be moved to the bottom of the queue if there is a waiting list
Strike 3 – Last Choice: On your third “No Show” strike you will be moved to the bottom of queue for future quest help and instance runs and selected only if there is absolutely no one else to go to. This will be in effect until further notice.
Definition: The definition we use for a “No Show” is someone who has signed up, but did not show up and did not give us any reasons or notices why. The fact is that we were expecting you to show and you just didn’t. These “No Show” strikes will be tracked.
2.4 Removing Strikes
If you have accumulated some Strikes against you the only way to get rid of them is through Leadership's discretion. This can be several different things, such as through good behavior, being especially helpful to a fellow guildie or the like. Talk to a guild officer and present your case. It is at the Guild Officer's discretion to remove a “No Show” strike.
3 General Rules for Parties
These general rules should be applied not only when teaming with fellow guildies, but also if you should find yourself in a PUG. Remember that you are a representative from our Guild at all times. We expect all our Guild members to behave appropriately and follow common courtesy gaming rules.
3.1 Damage Meters
Meters should not be posted in the middle of our runs. It is distracting and can cause bickering. You can have one running and monitoring your progress, just don’t post it. At the end the group, Leader can post the results or request the results posted.
3.2 Wipe on Purpose
If you intentionally (keyword here) wipe the group in vengeance or trying to be funny, then you will be booted from the group and further Guild sanctions may be imposed.
3.3 Know Your Class
We expect that players will have a good understanding of their character and how to play it. Please be respectful of those who are still learning! Helpful, not criticizing is key.
3.4 Attitude
Come with the right attitude! Always keep a positive, helpful, lighthearted attitude and things go so much smoother. If there is a wipe or a few wipes, don’t start getting mad just figure it out.
3.5 Ask Questions
This is an easy way to learn the ropes. If you don’t know a fight or don’t know your role then ask! Just ask for clarification in party chat or PM the Group Leader and ask for help. Asking about something you don’t know about could save a wipe.
3.6 Looting Procedures
We use a different structure for our looting as the level gets higher. These are guidelines and can deviate some depending on the group or instance. Generally the idea is Greed if you don't truly need the item and Need if you do. If an item would be good for an alternate toon, alert the group that you would like it for your Alt. You may then roll need ONLY if no one else in the group "needs" it for their main.
3.6.1 Looting w/Enchanter
If there is an enchanter in the group, it must be conveyed at the beginning of the run. Everyone in the group must decide if loot should be DE'd if not an upgrade. If all agree, the party members will pass on all BOP loot during that dungeon, unless it is an upgrade where the party member will need the item. At the end of the run, DE'd items rolled for, will be distributed based on value. If there are enough DE'd items of the same value to share with the group, each party member will get at least 1. Any remainders will be rolled on.
3.6.2 Looting in Raids
Raid looting will be master controlled at the discretion of the leader of the raid and he/she can give master looter to anyone they deem fit to do so. In essence, the leader is not required to be master looter, if they don't want to be. All items to be rolled on will be displayed in a raid warning telling you to roll. Only roll on items for your current spec. If no one rolls, then off-spec rolls will be accepted. If no one still rolls and an enchanter is in party, it will be awarded for DE and shard will go to the guild. Once the bulk of the rolls have been done for each item, the leader with highest roll will be announced with a 5 second timer. Once the timer reaches 1, no more rolls will be accepted and the item will be distributed to the winner.
3.7 Ninja Looting
Ninja looting will not be tolerated! Sometimes there is the accident greed on a blue or green, but that is rare and most people apologize immediately. However, if an Epic is taken without permission than that player will be addressed immediately by the Group Leader. If it is determined they did ninja the loot then they will be expelled from the group and further Guild sanctions may be imposed.
3.8 Pick on Mip day
All guild members are required to pick on Mip every Tuesday evening when Mipendo or any of his alias' log on. Failure to do so will result in immediate demotion. Examples of said picking may involve, but are not limited to, the use of Mip's name as substitution for a profanity ie "What the Mip??" and "That is so Mipped up!" Guild members are allowed to substitute other forms of torment as they deem appropriate mindful of staying within the above rules.
4 Conclusion
These are the rules and guidelines we use. They are designed to promote fairness and protect the guild and our players. We also have allowed for special cases and flexibility because real life does get in the way.
5 Disclaimer
The above rules are liable to change without notice. All members are responsible for checking back often to keep abreast of any new rules. Ignorance is not a valid excuse for not abiding by the rules.
So as always, have fun!
